Bruichladdich, among the best distilleries of Islay, is famous for its special single malt including the Octomore which stands out most for uniqueness: it is the most peated whiskey in the world. The Octomore 07.2, in its seventh edition, is a single malt aged for five years and created a level of peat equal to 208ppm, as for all versions that end up .2; it is mainly aged in bourbon casks but ended its maturation in "alternative" casks, in this case are barrels of French wine Syrah from the Rhone area. The Bruichladdich uses only Scottish barley to produce this limited edition that is bottled as cask strength 58.5% vol.
