The Morellino di Scansano undoubtedly is the standard-bearer of Fattoria Le Pupille. Cuvee predominated by Sangiovese, to which are added Alicante and Malvasia Nera, Morellino di Scansano is a young red wine, soft and fruity. Elisabetta’s first harvest was in 1985 and since then Morellino has always followed the winery, constantly and fully expressing and representing the territory.
Production area: La Carla vineyard (Magliano in Toscana), Maiano and Bozzino vineyards (Istia d'Ombrone), San Vittorio, Vignacci Alta, Vecchie Pupille.
Grapes: 85% Sangiovese, 10% Alicante, 5% Malvasia Nera.
Soil: it passes from a clayey-ferrous soil to no land with a good presence of skeleton.
Training system: spurred cordon
Exposure and altitude: varies - 50-250 m.s.l.m.
Age of the vines: from the end of the 80s for the oldest plants to 2002 for the more recent ones.
Vineyard area: 14 ha, 1.5 ha, 9 ha, 2.5 ha, 4 ha, 10 ha

Vinification and ageing: fermentation at a temperature of 24 ° C in stainless steel: Maceration time: 15 days. Maturation: 8 months, of which a large part in steel and a small percentage in second passage barriques.
