Kupra is Grenache in purity, coming from a single vineyard in Cupra Marittima, in which the yields are very low (about 20 q / ha). Vine rediscovered and recovered by Marco Casolanetti, after having found the presence, close to his vineyards of Montepulciano, of a totally different grape, that the peasants called "bordò", later proved a biotype of grenache, led by shepherds in transhumance, as they moved from Maremma to Puglia, via Trasimeno lake. "Bordò" is a grape oldest than montepulciano grape, with thin skin, it loves heat , the wind, sandy or rocky soils, but always draining, it is  rich in sugar and has lower acidity than montepulciano. In the area there are many ungrafted vines.
