Michel Furdyna had the foresight to preserve the old vintages, the Vieux Millésimes, of Brut and Brut Prestige and this makes it possible to taste today some bottles, refined in the cellar, dating back to old and prestigious vintages of the past. It is not a question of the recent "dégorgements" of old "masses", but of the Champagne which had been disgorged in the following years and had never moved, since then stored in the cold basement of the cellar; the evolution of wine therefore started several years ago. The malolactic fermentation was completely carried out, the grapes were 70% of Pinot Noir and 30% of Chardonnay, the dosages rather low; and this was the "recipe" from Furdyna up to the Vintage 2000 included (to follow 50% -50%).
The vintage 1989 is considered together with the 1988 and the 1990 among the great vintages in Champagne. A solar year, which has brought magnificent maturation and has allowed the production of "sumptuous" and complete, balanced and complex wines. Among the three years the 89 was the hottest and this has characterized the wines giving them expressive strength and making them more extractive, hot and alcoholic. This vintage is a wine that really deserves to be open. Already the bright golden yellow color and the perlage, still alive, fine and persistent, herald great cleanliness and balance. The nose is a real explosion of aromas, ranging from minerality, with flint and gun barrel, to complex spicy and toasted notes, almost burnt, volcanic, followed by a beautiful evolution on glossy and mentholated notes. The taste maintains a fantastic generosity, and it is very easy and accessible to all, appreciable even by the less experienced taster. A harmonious and very well balanced whole, of pleasant length and persistence. A great vintage.

Bouquet: intense and complex, with a wide aromatic opening, strongly expressive, ranging from hints of yellow fruit, dried fruit (hazelnuts, almonds), dried and aromatic herbs with hints of minerals and chalky, with hints of spicy aromas (white pepper), toasted and smoked.
Taste: confirms the early brightness of the nose, of energetic impact, full and powerful and of great persistence.
