Kremstal, Austrian region located northwest of Vienna, is the extension towards north of Wachau and has a production area of 2243 hectares, on which Grüner Veltliner and Riesling Renano are grown. The climate of the area, quite mild, makes it possible to obtain good results even with red berry varieties, with the production of good Pinot Noir.
Martin Nigl and his family live with simplicity, concreteness and determination the guide of their winery located on the Danube at one hundred kilometers from Vienna, in Senftenberg. The vineyards are processed in harmony with nature, following the rows of an integrated viticulture. The grapevine features of the vineyards are peculiar: granite present in the land gives a recognizable minerality to the wines produced. Moreover, the microclimate of the valley, marked by strong thermal excursions, allows grapes to be obtained with optimal parameters. Harvesting, hand-made and in several steps, can take a long time and go on for a month, a month and a half. For white wines, vinification is preferred in steel to accentuate the natural expression of the varieties used, finesse and minerality.
