Markus Molitor is located in Mittel Mosel, near the bridge of Zeltingen, Germany. In 1984, aged just 20, Markus Molitor took the lead in the family winery with the aim of producing high quality Riesling, following the tradition and the vocation of the Moselle region. The estate is located in Wehlener Klosterberg and includes vineyards in 15 different areas, each with specific soil and climatic characteristics. Molitor vineyards are located from Brauneberg in Traben-Trarbach and, since 2001, also along the Saar River. Soil, notwithstanding the obvious local distinctions, is characterized by a strong stony and mineral component, with a predominance of slate rocks: the ideal soil for growing Riesling. It produces 150 different Riesling, including 60 Auslese, 13 Eiswein and 15 TBA. And despite the amount of wine it produces, Markus Molitor does not produce "wines in quantities" indeed. His name is well known not only in Germany, and the accolades keep coming to him year after year. Excels in sweet wines, especially the Auslese, which are his passion. For the latter makes such a late harvest that often begins in December. Markus has a very low yield, 40-45hl / ha. In winemaking he is scrupulous: the must is clarified by gravity and sedimentation, fermented only with its own natural yeasts, for a part in a low temperature steel and for another part in wood. He thinks that great wines should stay at least a little time in wood. Markus Molitor 's wines express the tradition and quality of the Mosel terroir, have an outstanding aromatic depth, freshness and elegance.
The color of the capsule indicates the sweetness of the wine: White (dry), Green (off-dry wines), Gold (sweet wines).
