Monticelli Brusati (BS) - Franciacorta
7 ha of vineyards
Bottles annually produced: 15.000
The presence of the Del Bono family in Monticelli Brusati is documented in the notarial records of the Olivetana Abbey of Rodengo Saiano since the Twelfth Century. The Del Bono have always been workers of the earth, never "Lords". The sacrifices and fatigue are inscribed in their chromosomes. Today, the two brothers Aurelio and Emilio, sons of Caterina, who have dedicated the winery to the merits conquered in the field and Francesco, who has always continued to help them in their work in the vineyard, are committed to the challenge of quality wine. These winemakers have decided to leave the denomination to follow their own path in complete freedom, oriented towards biodynamic production and free from the prevailing styles. Casa Caterina is one of the few small wineries that can boast the global presence of only systems raised with the Guyot system and with the spurred cordon. The geographical location of the winery vineyards is excellent: areas such as Gaina, Colombaia and Persaga are among the best in all of eastern Franciacorta. Great exposure, "strong" soils, notable slopes. Choice of soil and farming systems are therefore of a high standard. The production of the House is very limited, treated to the extreme and proposals with a garment of rare elegance. The House is being converted to the biodynamic production system, the first wine produced with this method was ready in 2004.
