Caol Ila is a whisky produced in Scotland in the northern part of the island of Islay by homonymous Caol Ila Distillery. The whisky production is one of the major activity of the island as the tourism.Coal Ila distillery was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson. In 1854 it was purchased by Norman Buchanan and in 1863 by Bulloch Lade & Co. Ltd. In 1920 it was taken over by a consortium of businessmen who formed the Coal Ila Distillery Company Ltd. and in 1930 the property passed to the Scottish Malt distilleries Ltd: distillery later came into possession of the multinational Diageo. They manufacture two Coal Ila Single Malt Scotch Whisky: the 12 years and 18 years. In 2010 it was bottled for the first time a whiskey aged 25 years with an alcohol volume of 43%.
